Reformed NPQ programmes commence November 2021
STSN is working with SFET and Xavier Teaching School Hubs and Teach First to provide the full suite of reformed NPQ programmes commence in November 2021. This partnership brings together the best local knowledge and context with the national experience and programmes of Teach First.
All NPQs are taught through a blended balance of online individual learning, online seminars and face-to-face meetings and a simplified end-of-course assessment. There are two cohorts annually, starting in Autumn and Spring.
Leadership National Professional Qualifications
12 month programmes. These three new specialist NPQs replace the current NPQML.
- NPQLBC: Leading Behaviour and Culture
- NPQLT: Leading Teaching
- NPQLTD: Leading Teacher Development
18 month programmes:
- NPQSL: Senior Leaders
- NPQH: Headship (including a new programme of support for newly appointed Headteachers)
- NPQEL: Executive Leadership

NPQLT: Leading Teaching Cost: £840 *
NPQLBC: Leading Behaviour and Culture Cost: £840 *
NPQLTD: Leading Teacher Development Cost: £840 **
NPQSL: Senior Leaders Cost: £1,045 *
NPQH: NPQ for Headship Cost: £1,690 ***
NPQEL: Executive Leadership Cost: £3,245 *
* Scholarship Funding is available for participants from State-funded schools and academies. The DFE criteria for scholarships is currently state-funded schools with more than 30% pupil premium or with specific IDACI and AEA criteria.
** Fully Funded NPQLTD: The DfE will fully fund participants from State-funded schools and academies following an eligibility assessed application process.
*** NPQH Funding explained: The DfE will fully fund participants who are either Current or aspiring headteachers in PP30 schools or Heads in post in their first 2 years in any state-funded school. Aspiring Heads outside of PP30 schools in state-funded will be self funded £1,690
Independent schools or individuals employed in these settings may apply and pay for all programmes.
